Our new website is live
ECA Committee
Until now, everything ECA did lived on Instagram and Facebook. That works well for people who are already following us, and not at all for everyone else — a family who arrived last month, someone searching for help with a letter from Centrelink, or a person who simply does not use social media.
This site is our attempt to fix that.
What’s on it
- Events — what’s coming up, and a record of what we have run. Tickets still go through Humanitix.
- Get help — a directory of practical help: government documents, health, housing, money, legal. It notes where free interpreters are available, and marks which services we provide ourselves.
- Projects — everything we are working on, how far along it is, and what has stalled. Including the ideas nobody has picked up yet.
- Community — other Eritrean organisations, radio and businesses. We are still building this one.
- Membership — what membership gets you, and how to join.
Still coming
The site is new and parts of it are thin. The community directory needs more listings, and we are checking every phone number in the help directory against the service that owns it before we treat that page as finished.
Instagram and Facebook are not going anywhere — they are still where we post first. This is for everything that deserves to sit somewhere permanent.
Tell us what’s wrong
If something is out of date, a number does not work, or your organisation should be listed and isn’t, email us. A community website is only as good as the corrections people bother to send in.
