Community Help Directory Coordinator

Lead the help directory — decide what goes in it, check the phone numbers are right, and keep it current. The project needs somebody to own it.

Part of Community help directory — read what the project is trying to achieve before you decide.

The help directory is the page people reach for when something has gone wrong — a letter they cannot read, a housing problem, a death in the family. It only works if somebody owns it.

What the role is

  • Decide what belongs in the directory and what does not
  • Check every phone number and link against the service that owns it, and record the date
  • Re-check the whole directory twice a year so nothing goes stale
  • Add entries as people send them in
  • Work out what is missing — the gaps people keep asking about

You do not need experience

This is the honest part: nobody currently doing this has run a project like it before. If you have coordinated something else, great. If you have not, and you are willing to be organised and follow through, that is genuinely enough — a committee member will work alongside you until you have your feet.

What matters more than experience is caring whether the number works when somebody in trouble calls it.

Why it matters now

The directory is published but not verified. Every entry currently shows a checked date that nobody has actually stood behind. Until someone does that pass, we cannot really call the page finished.
