What we're trying to do
Somebody with a problem can find the right phone number themselves, without knowing who to ask, and the number still works when they call it.
For years, the answer to “who do I call about this?” has been whoever happened to be in the room. That works until it doesn’t. This project is about writing it down.
Where it’s up to
- Categories and structure agreed
- First round of entries published — documents, health, housing, legal
- Phone numbers and links being verified with each service
- Still to do: money and work, study and school
What’s next
We are checking every phone number and link directly with the service before we call this finished. Once the first full pass is done, we will review the whole directory every six months so nothing goes stale.

Help run this project
One role is open on this project. You do not need experience, and we write references for anyone who gives us their time.
Community Help Directory Coordinator
Lead the help directory — decide what goes in it, check the phone numbers are right, and keep it current. The project needs somebody to own it.
